Matryoshka Onsie

Oh. Hello there.
What's that? You want to make an impressive gift on the cheap?
Or, you just want it for your bebe? That's fine too.
Check out this super cute embroidered onsie.

She's sleeeepy
I re-purposed a onsie and used embroidery floss that I already had. So, I didn't buy anything to make this. That means I saved at least 25 dollars ( Etsy guesstimate).. that means I have at least 25 dollars more to spend. Whohoo!! (Lindsey math = accuracy)

How To:
1) I used a pattern that I found here. It's really meant to be a little paper craft. Whateva, just print it. I chose to use the larger doll for this project.

2) Be ghetto like me, and shade the back of the printed image with a pencil, then flip the image over on your fabric and trace it, pressing firmly. OR, if you plan ahead, you can get some of this embroidery transfer paper from JoAnn's.

You can tell I didn't follow the outline exactly. Whateva. You don't have to either.
3) Then embroider away. If you have never embroidered before, don't worry. It's super easy, you'll get the hang of it. You can check out some great stitching tutorials on Sarah's Hand Embroidery Tutorials and make your own, or look up each stitch below in the stitch dictionary.

4) Here is a visual of the stitches that I used.

Disclaimer*
I have a tendency for grossly underestimating the amount of time it will take to complete a project. I just never get the amount of time *quite* right. My estimation is especially thrown off now, since my 'creative time' is directly related to the length of a certain little cutie's nap time.

My guesstimate for this was Ehhh... 45 minutes of embroidery. WRONG. This took me 3 naps worth of work, that's serious people. For other people that translates to a little over three hours. I feel like it was really worth it though. I love the end result.

Selah likes it too!
