I have a slight obsession with vintage chenille. I tend to get on little collecting kicks now and then and this one was sandwiched somewhere between the anodized aluminum tableware of '08 and vintage embroidery patterns of '10. We'll talk about those another day.
For now, let's just say I have more bedspreads than actual beds in my home. I love the knobby texture, the weight of pure cotton, and the reminisence of summers gone by that these blankets bring.
Classy Elegance - guest bedroom for usual visitors
Cheery and Light- Selah's nursery
Indescribable Awsomeness- guest bedroom for special friends
Not everyone appreciates the design aesthetic of a giant, hand-tufted, flourescent peacock bedspread, but I happen to adore it. If this beauty is donning the guest bed when you come to spend the night, know that you are loved.
If you are interested in finding one for yourself, I've had great luck finding these bedspreads on Ebay for much cheaper than Etsy or vintage stores.
Naturally, following my inclination toward vintage chenille, I was SUPER exited to find this tutorial for a homemade baby blanket version of my loves! MADE: Faux Chenille Blanket Tutorial I'll share the blanket that I made for Selah in my next post, and offer my tips and advice on this project.
